Teaching Philosophy
I have always felt that students learn best when they are engaged and involved in their learning. One of my favorite quotes from Benjamin Franklin is, "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." Since engagement is such an important aspect of a student's ability to learn, I aim to connect the content students will be learning to their lives, backgrounds, and interests. Making content relevant for students, allowing them to explore and discuss what they are learning, and providing them with opportunities to take ownership of what they learn, are ways in which I hope to develop student growth.
My teaching philosophy is also aligned with the CASD Mission Statement:
The Chambersburg Area School District will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where students will receive a rigorous and responsive education that will empower them to compete globally.
